WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

RKEC is a team of expert mechanical and electrical engineers. With the nature of their business, they deal with both commercial and domestic clients. Their old website however was not very user friendly. RKEC needed a new site that could remove any roadblocks between them and new customers. They also needed to market themselves to their customers. In this case, we used the power of social media to help boost their online presence and specifically target more domestic clients.

HOW WAS IT SOLVED?

I dove into the original RKEC website to figure out what the issue really was. It turns out, the site had a very unconventional user interface which challenged expectations of a typical website UI. This made navigating the site unnecessarily difficult. To make matters worse, there was a total overload of information. I sifted through everything I could so we could keep the gold and ditch the rest. In just over 6 weeks, RKEC's new and improved site was up and running with an improved UI that was much more user friendly and domestic facing whilst still accommodating commercial services for those who may need them.

THE PROCESS

Throughout the 6 weeks, me and the company director had multiple meetings to go over what we thought should be kept in the new site as well as other sites that we could potentially draw inspiration from. I would give the director regular updates and site presentations to explain the design choices that had been made to make sure I was always aiming at the right target. I also worked closely with the company's admin team to have instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn posts approved before exporting the final products.

RESULTS

The end result was a fantastic new website that's much more user friendly and a greater online presence thanks to the new social media content. The website is clutter-free and has a functional user interface to prevent deterring potential customers. A functional UI is integral as it can be the make or break (in this case make) for your site, without this you could lose potential customers to your competitors.
